چکیده

This paper deals with solving the global illumination problem using compactly supported overlapping bases. Overlapping bases have not been used for their computational complexities. This paper is a step towards solving illumination ee-ciently using overlapping bases. Cubic B-splines are used as an example to show the eecient solution of global illumination. B-splines have properties that give an eecient representation of smooth functions, giving rise to a compact representation. In this paper cubic B-splines are used as the basis function to provide C 2 continuity in the nal solution. They have an advantage over using Haar and multi-wavelets bases which are discontinuous. They also have advantage over orthogonal bases like Legendre polynomials and Spherical harmonics which have global support. Computationally eecient integrals involving B-splines cannot be obtained using Gauss quadrature methods. We show how equi-distant sampling and Newton Coates methods can be used very eeciently for solving integral equations involving overlapping bases. We use directional parameterization to solve scenes containing glossy objects. A new directional parameterization is deened over a hemisphere. Finally, results are shown on various test scenes along with their computational timings.

Global Illumination Using Overlapping Wavelets

This paper presents an eecient algorithm to generate realistic images using spline wavelets. Our algorithm departs from the use of non-overlapping wavelets by providing a continuous solution at no extra cost. This in turn eliminates need for inaccurate Gouraud shading or expensive nal gather step. Advantage of spline wavelets come from the fact that scaling functions are n th order B-splines th...

Collocation Method using Compactly Supported Radial Basis Function for Solving Volterra's Population Model

‎In this paper‎, ‎indirect collocation approach based on compactly supported radial basis function (CSRBF) is applied for solving Volterra's population model. The method reduces the solution of this problem to the solution of a system of algebraic equations‎. ‎Volterra's model is a non-linear integro-differential equation where the integral term represents the effect of toxin‎. ‎To solve the pr...

A general approach to the generation of biorthogonal bases of compactly-supported wavelets

Biorthogonal bases of compactly-supported wavelets are characterized by the FIR perfect-reconstruction filterbanks to which they correspond. In this paper we develop explicit representations of all such filterbanks, allowing us to generate every possible biorthogonal compactly-supported wavelet basis. For these filterbanks, the product H(z) = H(z) e H(z) of the two lowpass filters must have N 2...

Biorthogonal Bases of Compactly Supported Wavelets

Orthonormal bases of compactly supported wavelet bases correspond to subband coding schemes with exact reconstruction in which the analysis and synthesis filters coincide. We show here that under fairly general conditions, exact reconstruction schemes with synthesis filters different from the analysis filters give rise: to two dual Riesz bases of compactly supported wavelets. We give necessary ...
